i believed my heart and my heart was wrong
Hello!
Today’s missive comes from the friendly Europe-bound skies, and today’s quote comes from Bachelor in Paradise. As you were.
In main news, it’s now October — aka Huluween (per Hulu) and…wait for it… Peacocktober (per Peacock.)

And, you know, although things COULD BE better in terms of general global pandemics, civil unrest, climate change, and the general demise of humanity…
…there are still some (small) joys in life!

Dumpster Fires, etc.
(Was it not clear? See above.)
Startups, etc.
I wrote a big-ass article that took so many months I can’t even tell you how many and ALSO I won’t tell you because UNLESS you are a writer you will NEVER understand that the editing DOWN of the work is THE hardest part.
It is short. It is here.

What is an NFT and why should I care and how are smart people thinking about them? Block some time on your calendar and go read this piece from smart man Paul Stamatiou. (If you print out this article it is 17 pages, and as per the printer and climate change issues above, I do not recommend that course of action.
Deena Shakir, Arab American Investor to All. Watch her soar.
And, I loved this incredible thread. Must read.

Reading, etc.
My friend Tsh has a great newsletter you can subscribe to here. I’ve been reading for years, because gems are always a-coming. Like this week:
As always, an epiphany came in the shower last night: I think in order for me to finally finish the thing, I need to cultivate the habit of not needing immediate feedback or instant gratification. Our “easy everywhere” culture has trained my brain to want dopamine hits all day long, and yet long projects don’t see their reward for a long time until after they’re completed. I need to relearn what it means to find satisfaction in the day’s work being done, and that’s it. I’m accidentally addicted to the dopamine treat of approval after the tiniest of daily dog tricks. I’ve become a puppy in my need of a reward.
Finally, I got a flight! (And then another flight, and then another flight…and turns out I’ve been flying a LOT.) Argentina, USA, Europe, USA, et. al.

In general, I would 1000% not encourage traveling internationally right now because your printer will not be able to handle so much activity.
YOU DO HAVE A PRINTER FOR ALL THOSE PDFS, DON’T YOU?

P.S. Why has this tweet not gone viral?
